WILLIAM T. SERGEANT award

The William T. Sergeant Rotary Foundation Per Capita Giving Award was created in 2014. This award was named after Bill Sergeant, known as "Mr. Rotary" worldwide, was Vice President of Rotary International in 1981-82, and a Trustee of the Rotary Foundation from 1991-94. He was also a Past District Governor in 1980-81. Bill Sergeant's home club is The Rotary Club of Oak Ridge. Bill is best known for his fine work as chair of Rotary International's Polio Plus Committee. He was responsible for resurrecting Rotary's efforts to eradicate polio worldwide. He also firmly believed that it was each Rotarian's responsibility to financially support the Foundation.

The Sergeant Awards will be given annually to clubs in each of the four club sizes with the highest Per Capita giving to the Annual Fund. The awards are based on contributions made to the fund and received at the Foundation by March 31st, and will be presented at the District Conference each year.
